Yurt39 · Sarsen Amanzholov Street, Old Almaty

The yurt

A nomad's dwelling, brought from the mountain pasture and given new purpose in a historic garden.

This yurt was not built for display. Acquired from the descendants of a shepherd who worked the Karasay Gorge east of Almaty, it was restored with care and installed in the walled garden of the Amanzholov house in 2025.

Step inside: red lattice walls, antique kilims layered across the floor, a carved wooden chest, coloured tassels. Outside: a private garden, a fire pit, string lights, the quiet of a residential street in old Almaty.

What happens here

Occasions for Yurt39

The yurt and its garden are suited to events that benefit from an extraordinary setting — cultural depth, the outdoors, and genuine intimacy.

Corporate offsites & team builds

Away from the office, inside a space that genuinely changes how people talk to each other. Strategy days, creative workshops, and team dinners. The yurt's enclosed form creates natural focus — no distractions, just the people in the room. Projector and sound system available as add-ons.

Cultural events & performances

Concerts, poetry readings, film screenings, art openings. The yurt's round form and wool insulation create natural acoustics unlike any other space in Almaty. Musicians playing inside the lattice walls describe the sound as warm and immediate. Projector and 100" screen available.

Cooking & fire events

Add the 4-burner gas cooking range for cooking classes and communal feasts. The fire pit extends the experience outdoors — fire-cooked food, open air, a nomadic setting that guests talk about long after the evening is over.

Birthdays & celebrations

Milestone birthdays, anniversary dinners, private celebrations for up to 20 people. The intimacy of the yurt means every guest is present in the room — no distant tables, no banquet-hall anonymity. Add the veranda for extra space.
